Electrifying the Future: Izera’s Trailblazing Journey on Geely’s Electric Car SEA Platform

Polish Electric Car Izera Built on Geely’s SEA Platform

In a groundbreaking move that is set to reshape the landscape of electric vehicles, ElectroMobility Poland, the Polish electric car manufacturer, has joined forces with the Chinese automotive giant Geely Holding to unveil a game-changing electric car platform known as SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture). This exciting partnership is breathing life into the innovative Polish electric car, Izera, which is poised to set new standards by riding on the robust shoulders of the SEA platform. This dynamic collaboration represents a significant stride forward in the quest to develop agile, secure, and technologically advanced electric vehicles.

More than just your typical vehicle chassis, the SEA platform is a comprehensive technological marvel that goes beyond appearances. ElectroMobility Poland asserts that the true magic of the SEA platform lies within its intricate components, tucked away from the everyday user’s gaze. These components are meticulously engineered to deliver an extraordinary driving experience, heightened with sensations of acceleration, braking, safety, and comfort.

Yang Yu, the Director of iVAC (Intelligent Vehicle Architecture) at Zeekr Intelligent Technology, a subsidiary of Geely Holding, emphasizes the platform’s commitment to modularity, flexibility, and endurance. He underscores that the SEA project’s central goal is to offer users a delightful driving experience without any compromise.

The SEA platform’s unwavering focus on safety, stability, and comfort perfectly aligns with Geely’s overarching vision. As a prominent player in the automotive arena, Geely Holding is the driving force behind renowned brands like ZEEKR, Volvo, and Smart. The autumn agreement between ElectroMobility Poland and Geely Holding resulted in the licensing of the SEA platform for the electric car endeavor.

“Sustainable Experience Architecture, or SEA, is a testament to our dedication to providing secure and enjoyable driving experiences for both vehicle occupants and fellow road users,” adds Yang Yu.

Marek Kapuściński, the Chief Chassis Architect at ElectroMobility Poland, underscores that the SEA architecture goes far beyond a mere floorboard or accompanying systems. It embodies a complex interplay of technical intricacies and expertise, often hidden from the end user’s direct sight but contributing profoundly to a tangible sense of quality, driving pleasure, and multifaceted performance.

Impressively scalable, Geely’s SEA technology caters to a wide spectrum of vehicle sizes and types, ranging from compact A-segment cars to larger E-segment vehicles and even commercial vans. The platform boasts a robust software structure, reducing the developmental investment required by partners. Additionally, it boasts adjustable wheelbases spanning from 1800mm to 3300mm, flexibly adapting to diverse requirements.

Already in use in European electric vehicles like the SMART #1 and the new Volvo EX30, the SEA platform, forming the bedrock of the Izera project, stands as a testament to its versatility and functionality.

Tomasz Mydłowski, the Vehicle Integration Manager at ElectroMobility Poland, highlights that the upcoming SMART #3 and ZEEKR X models will retain their distinctive characters while harnessing the same technical solutions. This adaptable approach will also be seamlessly integrated into the Izera’s DNA.

By leveraging the technical prowess of the SEA architecture, the door opens for the creation of at least three distinct car models: an SUV, a hatchback, and a station wagon (SW).

“The nuances between these models will largely revolve around factors such as rear overhang, offering enhanced space, and vehicle height,” explains Marek Kapuściński.

The architecture yielded through the Geely collaboration not only positions ElectroMobility Poland competitively in the present market but also ensures relevance well into the future, starting from the vehicle’s production launch onwards.

“Our objective is to maintain the car’s competitiveness throughout its entire lifecycle. This extends beyond the powertrain systems, with a special emphasis on the battery and the possibilities presented by onboard electronics,” underscores Marek Kapuściński.

The collaborative synergy between ElectroMobility Poland and Geely Holding is a testament to the SEA platform’s potential to revolutionize the electric vehicle sector. As the Izera prepares to take its grand stage, the automotive industry stands on the brink of a transformation that will redefine the driving experience, with an unwavering focus on safety, performance, and user contentment.
